Welcome to the ACNB Employee Spotlight! We would like to introduce you to Laura McCusker, SVP/Community Banking Officer. Get to know Laura below:
After graduating from Towson University in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Dance Performance, life had different plans for Laura, and she found herself back in New Oxford, headed down a totally different path. Laura started with ACNB Bank in August 2000, as a Teller at the McSherrystown Office. She quickly discovered that she was happy to be home in the local area, helping customers that she had known for years. As the years passed by, Laura found herself learning all aspects of branch banking, including branch management. She’s always had a passion for helping others - whether it be children or adults, providing instructional guidance was something she was good at. In 2010, Laura was promoted to Operations Administrator, and was lucky enough to train under some really great leaders, that helped her to grow into a big role. Although she wasn’t assisting customers in this capacity, she was the voice of the customer and the frontline staff at our Operations Center in Gettysburg. In 2017, as we expanded our footprint into Maryland, Laura was promoted to oversee all of our Community Banking offices and the Contact Center.
Outside of the office, Laura has a love for dance, that she enjoys sharing with others. In the evening and weekends, you can find her at a local studio in Hanover, teaching class and choreography for the competition team. She also volunteers her time at the VNA of Hanover/Spring Grove as a Board Member. When life allows for some relaxation, her happy place is the beach - any beach really; “as long as my toes are in the sand”! Her family enjoys vacationing whenever they can. Laura and her husband Kevin have three beautiful children - 19, 17, and 13, and their sweet pup, Lulu. Life is certainly busy, but Laura wouldn’t want it any other way.
Why should people bank at a community bank? “I know we say it all the time, but it’s true-We are Local. We live and breathe the communities we serve. We are your neighbors, your baseball coach, your brother-in-law. What’s important to you in your hometown is important to us. Our model stresses relationship building, getting to really know the customers we are assisting on a daily basis. Visiting and supporting the local businesses that bank with us and helping them thrive and succeed. Whether you pick up the phone or visit an office, our employees know each other by name, and take great pride in assisting you by name. There are customers that I assisted years ago when I worked in McSherrystown that will still stop me on the street. Knowing that I’ve helped provide a solution to make their life easier or save them money, that’s what it’s all about. That’s Community Banking.”
Most of Laura’s downtime is spent teaching; although she does enjoy retail therapy with the best of them. Laura and her husband enjoy Mexican food, anytime they can get it!
